Elaine Waterfield

Saturday, August 8th, 2026 was a beautiful morning to celebrate and honor the memory of our dear friend, Elaine Waterfield, with a memorial bench and plaque newly installed at Strickfaden Park, 318 Bell Ave., Sandusky.  The bench is located on the main walking trail leading straight from the gazebo to the back entrance of the park (at the end of Stonewood Dr. in Stonewood housing development off Marshall Ave.).

Jane Gildenmeister, President of Friends of Perkins Township, acted as the master of ceremony for the celebration.  We enjoyed stores and memories of Elaine from various community members including Perkins Township Trustee, Jim Ommert, former Trustee and FOPT co-founder, Mike Printy, ladies that served or worked with Elaine in various organizations like Perkins School Board, Old Woman’s Creek, Friends of Pipe Creek, a life long friend from school, and her children, Steve and Amy. During the stories, a beautiful Monarch butterfly visited our gathering twice, flying in and out of people.  This certainly had to be “Elaine” giving us her stamp of approval.

Elaine Waterfield will be remembered as a positive influence on the lives she touched and her love of people and her community.  We were all blessed to have known her.
